Go from Austria to Slovakia by boat
Traveling to different countries within Europe isn’t a very difficult task. It just takes the courage to go somewhere you’re unfamiliar with. Most airports offer flights to everywhere within Europe, and a lot of countries connect easily by train. Trips I’ve taken myself by train include going from Milan, Italy to Lugano, Switzerland in one hour. As well as Amsterdam, Netherlands to Brussels in Belgium in 2 hours and 20 minutes.
However I came across the possibility to switch countries by boat and I had to take advantage. From Vienna, Austria, to Bratislava, Slovakia, I took a boat called the “Twin City Liner” and in about an hour and 10 minutes I was in Slovakia. It was a surreal experience just because I had never imagined doing something like this. Tickets ranged from 17 to 53 Euros depending on the time you book and your seat.
There are boats running every morning, afternoon, and night meaning if you visited Austria you could day trip to Bratislava and back that same day. I decided to stay in Bratislava that night which was a unique experience but if I would probably recommend staying in Vienna if you want to have more options with your night scene.
I definitely wouldn’t skip on this opportunity if you ever find yourself in Vienna, as it is a unique way to get to go experience a capital city of another country.
