Miami Art Basel 2025
Art Basel 2025
Art Basel in Miami is one of the biggest and most important art fairs in the world. Reoccurring every year in December, it basically turns the entire city of Miami, especially Miami Beach, Wynwood and the Design District into a giant art, fashion, and nightlife festival.
There is honestly so much to do that it’s hard to pick where to go and what to get into. There were events and pop ups going on for basically every niche imaginable. As for my experience, I tried attending everything and meeting with as many new and old friends as possible. I met friends again that I met in Los Angeles, some home town friends who live in Miami, my cousin, and a lot of new internet friends for the first time.
On Friday I toured Wynwood Walls and went to a pop up Art show by MaxEvasion at the ALUR Gallery. MaxEvasion, a social media a star, displaying his new artwork featuring his new color Burple, and offering an iteractive experience by letting you create your own color and print it. It was a neat experience to get to talk and get a picture with one of my favorite social media creators and see him in his element. I even got to give him one of my Unbothered Tourist shirts.
From that exhibit I went to Terp Basel to check out the cannabis scene. The event took place at Skatebird Miami and offered some of the best Cannabis vendors in the industry. I got to meet a lot of cool people behind brands I’ve always seen on social media; such as JP from Goodpizzza who had my favorite packaging of the event. Your cannabis came packaged in a bag that looked like an actual pizza, then put inside a pizza box, with Tony Soprano on the inside and comes in a “Grazie Mille” thank you bag. As an Italian American I’ve always wanted to come across this brand, and one of my favorite pictures of the weekend came holding a stack of the Goodpizzza boxes. I’d like to also shout out Dr Dabber who gifted me my first Dr Dabber this weekend. Everyone was so friendly, I could also shout out Keelin (@tokenkeeks) from @WizardTreez giving me my first WizardTreez joint and flower. Her and her bff Mae (@ktmaesec) are one of my favorite social media duos, they are so funny and nice to finally meet them. I could also shout out Alyssa (@dazedlyss) who gifted me a gameboy ceramic lighter cover from her brand (dazed.world) she makes herself. Through the WizardTreez homegirls I made friends with Jay (@azcannaselections) who travels around as much as I do and represents a handful of cannabis brands around the country and I always wanted to connect with. And I got to run into one of my favorite photographer friends Jeff (@casedgod) that I met for the first time in Los Angeles. The internet really is crazy, we’re not supposed to know this many people. I tried to reciprocate their energy by having Unbothered Tourist shirts on deck.
I started day 2 by seeing my hometown friends Trevor and Allison, who moved to Miami a handful of years ago and never turned back. On the opposite side of Basel activities they invited me to go say what’s up at where Allison had attended her Pilates class. Allison (@allisonsannutova) on Instagram, is one of my funniest friends I have on social media, as she recently has become famous (at least to me) with her hilarious mom impersonating skits. So there I was talking to Allison and Trevor about their life lately and week at Basel, as I’m watching 100 people in incredible shape all around me. Allison got me a protein smoothie and protein water and my body was thanking me for that. From there we strolled Miami Beach and saw the library book case exhibit in the middle of the beach. It was nice to see another side of Miami and catch up with Trevor who was my childhood best friend growing up, he makes it seem so easy to get up and move to Wynwood, one day he might convince me. As I’m saying goodbye to them I wanted to go to Art Basel itself, and Allison being the influencer she is has a free ticket for me of course, so that was $80 I got to save, but it was just another cool moment to see Allison killing it for herself and sharing the love.
As for Art Basel itself, it was filled with all style art. From contemporary paintings, to statues, there was something to appeal to every visitor I’d say. The exhibit that had everyone’s attention was the Beeple exhibit. It was an exhibit by digital artist Beeple, that saw billionaires and visionaries (such as Elon Musk, and Mark Zuckerberg) being robot dogs that took photos and pooped them out, some of the prints were also NFTs. The faces were so realistic, it was half disturbing to watch.
Saturday night I went back to Terp Basel, and as for the event itself, it was a very relaxed and friendly scene. It just offered the opportunity to socialize with whomever and have a safe spot to enjoy the cannabis community. The highlight of Terp Basel for me was on the second night when Wocka Flocka was there and performed a song at random for us. While he was performing I noticed one of my favorite rappers BLP Kosher, standing behind him so when the entire crowd followed Wocka as he left the room I took the opportunity to say what’s up to BLP Kosher. I got to take a picture with him and gave him one of my “Unbothered Tourist” shirts.
From there that was a wrap on day 2. At least I thought. It was about 3 am Saturday night(Sunday morning), when one of my friends from out of town who randomly got to Miami the night before, called me, and said let’s go to ClubSpace. That decision changed the rest of my weekend. Maybe even my life. We got to Space at about 4 am, and it was one of the most packed clubs I’ve ever been in. But the vibes were sensational. Long story short, I decided to pull the plug at 11,30 am. Not because the club was dead, or I was, but because I had to make my work schedule and knew it was now or never or I’d never leave.
So as for Sunday I had some responsibilities to take care of after clubSpace, and then took a 2 hour nap and then made my last round Terp Basel. I said goodbye to the few vendors I connected with, and then went to the Weedmaps kickback party to end the night. Most of my social media friends were there so I got to enjoy the last night with them. I had in mind that I’d be going back to clubSpace right after this ended. But things didn’t go as planned. I went back to my room and said I’d lay down as my phone charged, and I fell asleep.
I woke up the next Monday, half disappointed in myself that I missed Space, until I realized clubSpace was having a 33 hour ending party to end the weekend, so technically I could still go? It seemed crazy to me to go to a club on a Monday, at 1 or 2 pm, but I checked Instagram, and look at their stories and it’s crazy packed. So I pulled the trigger. I got to Space around 2pm, and when I entered it was packed, I couldn’t believe it; on a Monday. Welcome to Miami right? So as for that Monday, a few friends I made at EDC Orlando also happened to be at Space and we raged until 5 that next morning. A 13 hour rage session. This time when I pulled the plug, the club was half empty and my battery had officially ran out.
The next morning I got myself together and left Miami and had a 6 hour drive home.
Miami Art Basel, thank you.
